Psychological Thriller Genre Analysis

Psychological Thriller Analysis
After researching and planning out some ideas for my trailer, I now believe the genre we are mirroring the most in our process is the Psychological Thriller sub-genre. This genre is what I believe our project mirrors and what I think we should attempt to create and follow in our trailer. A psychological thriller is sub-genre of horror that tends to focus heavily on its charcaters. This genre has strong elements of mystery, suspense, and drama. The charcaters in the film not only have to have the physical strength to survive whatever situation they may be in, but also have the mental strangth to survive. This is because the situations created by the filmaker are made to induce intense fear in the charcaters as the movie goes on, this may be in the form of a stalker, a unseen monster, or a killer on the loose. The possiblities are endless are endless in film making, but the idea my group would like to incorporate into our trailer is the unseen killer that picks off characters one by one. This is because my group and I believe this is the best way to create a good horror movie, and the best way to create suspense and fear for our viewers to watch during our trailer. This means that our trailer will include most of the prominent themes found in pyschological thrillers, death, reality, existence, and perception. Also we will include common shots found in these films witch are very quick edits and changes in camera angles to increase the feeling of fear and shock. These shots will be used in major scenes that will leave our viewers with a cliff hanger. The music we intend to use will be eerie and ominous to create high tension or anxiousness in the viewers to keep them on edge as they watch the trialer. In the "scary" shots of our trailer we want to use claustrophobic spaces as it presents a feeling of entrapment in the mind, while actually leaving the charcater trapped. The lighting during these scenes will be darker and lower as this creates more tension and fear. We also are still looking for the right font of our trailer as it needs to fit the image we are trying to create with this trailer. The colors we want for our font is a dark red because this symbolizes blood or death, and the colors we want to be shown in the film are going to shift from bright and happy colors to darker and more eerie colors which will emulate the fear we are trying to create. I can't wait to continue working on this project because I believe we are going to create a really awesome horror trailer.
